Description

The Gingell Monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard approximately 1 metre north of the Marten monument, near the Church of St. Nicholas. It dates from 1802 and was created by John Pearce of Frampton. The monument is made of sandstone and has a square shape with recessed corners, standing on a large stepped base. It features a moulded plinth and a fluted frieze, topped with domical coping and a ball finial. Each face of the tomb has a raised oval inscription panel adorned with draped foliage branches. The west side is inscribed to Thomas Gingell, who died in 1802.
