Description

This is an early 18th-century building that was originally a dwelling and shop, and is now used as offices. It is constructed with a painted stone plinth and rendered walling, topped with an asbestos cement slate roof. The front elevation features a Mansard roof with a long, sweeping slope to the back, incorporating a semi-circular projecting stairwell. The building is two storeys high with dormers, and has three windows across the front. Two 19th-century dormers contain sash windows with glazing bars, while the original front windows are 18th-century sashes with glazing bars. A more recent sash window with glazing bars is on the ground floor. The modern entrance door includes a fanlight, and is set within a 19th-century pilastered shop front with a glazed door. Inside, the semi-circular stairwell at the back is still visible. There are remains of a framed wall on the ground floor, possibly relating to the adjacent building at No. 37. One upper room retains some 18th-century panelling with beaded and moulded rails and muntins.
