Description
This is a chest tomb dedicated to Richard Knowles, located approximately 4 meters east of the Church of St. John. It dates from 1766 and is made of limestone. The tomb features lyre-ended design, with the west end displaying an armorial cartouche topped with a head. The central oval panel on the east side is inscribed with an hour-glass and flanked by the initials R. K., with a death's head above and the date below. The sides of the tomb have central recessed and moulded rectangular inscription panels, which are flanked by floral drops. It has a cyma moulded top and base, and the north side is inscribed to Richard Knowles, who died in 1766.
