Description
The Old Chapel is a former Wesleyan Methodist chapel, now a detached house, built in 1859. It is constructed of dressed and squared limestone with a concrete tile roof. The building is two-storey, featuring a former school room on the ground floor and the former chapel above. The ends of the building have parapet gables, with the west end displaying offset corner buttresses. A central moulded pointed arched doorway with jamb shafts leads into the chapel, which also has a 3-light pointed arched window with Decorated tracery. The south side consists of four bays with offset buttresses and tall 2-light pointed chapel windows, also with Decorated tracery, along with a 2-light trefoil headed window below. The chapel is built into the bank at the rear. Although the interior has not been inspected, it appears to retain a balcony at the west end of the chapel. The building is situated in a very prominent position high on the steep valley side.
