Description
The Old Grist is a former mill that later became the Coombe Valley Brewery and is now a dwelling, reputedly dating from 1824. The building is constructed of painted coursed rubble and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has five windows, which are wood mullioned and transomed, set at the wall face. The upper two storeys are adorned with segmental arches that have projecting keystones. The ground floor has been modified, but one original casement window has been retained, and there is a new door in the original opening. The structure has a long parallel range, with the back range being more recent than the original, along with an extension and a large brick stack at the right end.
