Description

The Briars is a detached house dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble with coped gables and a stone slate roof. The house features twin Cotswold gables at both the front and rear, along with a modern glazed extension providing an entrance. A central brick stack is also present. The house is two storeys high with a two-window front. The windows are two- or three-light openings with plain or hollow chamfer, drip moulds, and dripstone labels, with a continuous drip mould over the ground floor windows. All windows have replacement aluminium lights. The building is an unusually neat and complete example of the continuing “Cotswold vernacular” style of architecture.
