Description
This group of five monuments is located in the churchyard approximately 30 meters south of the chancel arch in Woodchester. They date from the early to mid-18th century and are made of limestone. The group includes one chest tomb featuring corner and side pilasters, inscribed to William Hill, although the date is illegible. There are also two lyre-ended chest tombs; one is inscribed to Mary Pierce, who died in 1734, while the other bears a later inscription for Jane Hill, who died in 1842. Additionally, there are two rectangular pedestal tombs, one with simple fielded panelling inscribed to Joseph Churchis, who died in 1715, and the other displaying a coat-of-arms on the west end, though its inscriptions are illegible.
