Description

The chancel arch and a section of the north wall belong to the former Church of St. Mary. The chancel arch dates from the 12th century and features a round shape with two attached orders; the outer order has scalloped capitals while the inner order has cushion capitals. There is decorative moulding on the imposts. A weathered coping from the 19th century has been added to the top of the chancel arch wall. The section of the north nave wall includes a 14th-century two-light window with Decorated tracery and a 12th-century square-headed north doorway. The rest of the church was demolished after the new Church of St. Mary was completed.
