Description
Lower Dudbridge House is a house dating from the late 17th century, which was refronted in the early 19th century and extended at the rear in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed and roughly dressed limestone, with a rendered front and rear extension, and a mid-19th century brick left gable end. The roof is made of stone-coped Welsh slate and features mid-19th century ridge and end stacks.
The house has a three-unit plan, with the entrance located between two units on the left side, and a mid-19th century parallel rear left range. The front façade displays three cross gables, with two storeys and an attic. It features a six-window range of early 19th century six-over-six pane sashes set in plain surrounds, along with three-over-three pane dormer sashes. A mid-19th century half-glazed door is set within a flat-roofed porch that has stone cheeks. There are also two doorways on the right side that lead to the former service end. At the rear, there is a hood mould over a 17th century two-light chamfered stone-mullioned window. The mid-19th century rear range includes tripartite plate-glass sashes. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
