Description
The Portcullis is a house that has been converted into a restaurant. It dates from the mid-17th century and was restored in the 1970s. The building is constructed of rubble with a Cotswold stone slate roof, and it was previously rendered with a thatched roof. It has one and two storeys, with attics in two steep stone gables. The façade features four bays with two- and three-light casement windows. There is an off-centre plank door with strap hinges to the left, set in an ovolo moulded doorcase beneath a segmental head.
Inside, the first-floor central room includes a built-in cupboard, panelled doors, a fluted frieze, and S-scroll hinges. The original layout was a cross-passage plan, with a single room to the left and two rooms to the right.
