Description
This description covers a group of two monuments located in the churchyard approximately 10 meters east of the chancel of St Martin's Church. The monuments date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are made of limestone, with one featuring red sandstone panels.
The group consists of two square pedestal tombs, each enclosed by railings. One tomb is more elaborate, showcasing sandstone panels framed by egg and dart borders, with chamfered corners adorned with floral drops. A sarcophagus, positioned at a 45-degree angle, rests on top and is supported by scrolls. This tomb is inscribed to the LOCK family. The other tomb is simpler in design and was noted to be almost overgrown at the time of the survey in October 1986.
