Description

The Atkyns monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard of St. Leonard's Church, approximately 1.5 meters north of the Smith monument and to the east of the north chapel. It dates from 1670 and is made of limestone. The tomb features lyre ends with moulded ovals, although the eastern side is mutilated. It has moulded rectangular side inscription panels that are flanked by scrolls, and a complex moulded top with a cyma moulded base. The south side is inscribed with the name of Thomas Atkyns, who died in 1670.
