Description

The Fryer monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard approximately 2.5 metres north of the Marten monument, near the Church of St. Nicholas. It was created in 1820 by John Pearce of Frampton and is made of sandstone. The tomb has a square shape with recessed corners and stands on a large stepped base, which was originally enclosed by a railing. It features a moulded plinth and a fluted frieze, topped with domical coping. Each face of the monument includes a raised oval inscription panel adorned with draped foliage branches. The south side is inscribed with the name of Daniel Fryer, who died in 1820.
