Description

The Grimes monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 2.5 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St. Leonard. It dates from 1740 and is made of limestone. The tomb features lyre ends with moulded rectangular panels at each end. The sides have bolection moulded inscription panels, which are flanked by panels adorned with ribbon bows on the north side and flowers in round-ended panels on the south side. The top and base of the monument are cyma moulded. The north side is inscribed in memory of Robert Grimes, who died in 1740.
