Description
The Hawkins Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4 meters south of the south porch of the Church of St. John. It dates from 1719 and is made of limestone. The tomb has lyre ends, featuring a head over an open book on the east side and a head over a Baroque cartouche on the west side. The sides of the tomb include moulded inscription panels that are flanked by mourners holding open books. It has a cyma moulded top and a cavetto moulded base. While most inscriptions are illegible, one is dedicated to ---- Hawkins on the south side.
