Description

STANDISH STANDISH VILLAGE SO 80 NW 7/252 Five Andrews Monuments, in line about 4-7m north of Smith Monument in churchyard of Church of St. Nicholas GV II Chest tomb, Mary Andrews 1738, and four headstones to Andrews family, three nearest chest probably early/mid C18, furthest south 1695 to Judith Andrews in sandstone. Remainder in limestone. Chest with flat top, moulded plinth and capping, gadrooned quarter balusters. Recessed high reliefs to ends with kneeling cherubs to west and cartouche to east, moulded rectangular panel to south with flanking reliefs, large oval cartouche with relief surround to north. Three adjacent headstones with cherubs' heads and wings and festoons. Judith Andrews, with strapwork-style ornament to sides and flat reliefs of monkeys' heads to top and larger central human head and hands.
