Description

This is a small 15th-century farmhouse with an adjacent cottage, located near Haresfield village. The farmhouse underwent significant restoration in the 20th century. Both buildings are timber-framed with thatched roofs. The farmhouse has plaster infill on its front elevation, a stone plinth, and brick facing to the rear and sides. It features a decorative ridge thatch and brick stacks placed externally to the left, at the ridge, and at the right end. The farmhouse is a single range with a single story and attic. It likely originally had a through passage with original ceilings over the hall and service areas, although that space is now open above the passage and an unheated parlour. A stack was inserted into the passage to create a double lobby entry plan. The front features four 20th-century two-light casement windows, a three-centred archway to the left of centre, and a 20th-century plank door. There are four small eyebrow dormers on each side. The cottage has painted brick infill and a brick end stack to the right, with an adjacent doorway and a large fireplace. It is a single story with an attic, with small, scattered windows. The interiors were not accessible at the time of listing, but are likely of interest and are said to contain cruck framing.
