Description
The Ravenhill monument is a pedestal tomb located approximately 7 meters north of the Church of St. John. It dates from 1838 and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a Doric frieze on the ends with a raised panel below; the east side is square while the west side is circular. On the north side, there is a large raised circular panel with paterae in the spandrels, and on the south side, there is a large rectangular panel with quadrant corners and paterae. The monument has a moulded top with rectangular domical coping above and a cyma moulded base. The north side is inscribed with the name WILLIAM RAVENHILL, who died in 1838.
