Description
The monument to William Frankis is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard approximately 9 meters northwest of the Church of St. Leonard. It dates from 1816 and is made of sandstone. The tomb has a square shape with attached reeded corner columns that stand on a plain plinth, supporting a wide projecting top with pyramidal coping above. There are oval side inscription panels with branches above them on the east and west sides, and rectangular panels with curved tops on the north and south sides. The east side is inscribed with the name WILLIAM FRANKIS, who died in 1816. The tomb is set on large sandstone slabs that cover a stone-lined vault below, and there are concerns that cracking of the slabs may lead to an early collapse.
