Description

Winnycroft Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located in Matson, Gloucester. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a projecting plinth and corbelled eaves. The roof is made of plain tiles and has integral brick gable end stacks with an oversailing capping course. The building has an L-shaped plan, comprising a main range and a rear service wing.

The exterior is two storeys high, with an attic and cellar. The north front displays a two-storey, four-bay range with brick segmental arched openings. These are infilled with three-light 19th-century wooden casements, flanking two-light casements to the center right, and there is a brick-blocked opening above the front door to the center left. The front door is a boarded studded door set in a framed doorframe, accessible by stone steps. There are three-light cellar openings to the right. The right side of the building is covered by a cider house and byre.

On the left gable end, there are two 19th-century two-light casements inserted in brick segmental arched openings. The rear is partially masked on the right side by a lower two-storey rear service extension, which features three brick segmental arched window openings and three dormer windows. The east side of the rear service wing includes a first-floor three-light casement, two two-light casements flanking a brick-blocked opening, and a part projecting brick stepped eaves stack.

The interior has not been inspected. Winnycroft Farmhouse is part of a notable group of late 18th-century buildings at Winnycroft Farm.
