Description

Church Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dated 1688, with early 18th century and 19th century additions. It is constructed from coursed and random rubble limestone, with ashlar on the rear wing and artificial stone rebuilt chimneys. The building features a plain tile roof and is two storeys high with an attic, forming an L-plan with the rear wing.

The front of the farmhouse has two gables and a three-window arrangement, all featuring chamfered mullioned casements. The ground and upper floors each have three-light windows, with separate hoodmoulds on the ground floor and a combined hoodmould on the upper floor. Each gable has a single two-light window with a hood, and above these is an oval window decorated with a lozenge pattern. The left gable displays the initials "I S," while the right gable shows the date "1688." The central doorway has a flat timber porch hood supported by shaped brackets, leading to a 20th-century door.

To the left, there is an early 19th century addition that originally had a segmental-arched doorway, now fitted with a 20th-century casement, and a segmental-arched small-paned casement above. The west end of the farmhouse features a small off-centre blocked single-light window and a large area of ashlar patching below, along with a rebuilt gable-mounted chimney.

At the rear, the front range has a single three-light casement on each floor and a glazed door with a timber lintel to the right. The ground floor of the rear wing has an altered window and doorway, while the upper floor features a three-light casement with a hoodmould. There are two small attic lights in the gable end, and the gable end chimney has been rebuilt in artificial stone. The interior has not been inspected.
