Description
This former coach house and stable, located approximately 30 meters to the north-west of Firwood, dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from random rubble limestone and features a concrete tile roof. The building has a rectangular shape with a small addition on the west end.
The front of the structure includes a central round arched coach doorway, which is topped by a keyed circular window and a central parapet gable. There are two casement windows with timber lintels and a doorway with a timber lintel to the left. The addition on the west side was likely built as a stable cottage and has two eaves-mounted chimneys at the rear. On the east end, there are stone steps leading to a loft doorway, which also has a timber lintel. Additionally, there are two 20th-century flush rooflights. At the time of the survey in August 1986, the building was in the process of being converted into a house.
