Description
The dovecote, located approximately 100 meters northwest of Woodchester House, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick with limestone ashlar dressings and a plinth, topped with a felt roof. The structure is two stories high, featuring gables on the east and west sides that contain pigeon holes and brick perches. It has plain corner pilasters and a simple band at the upper floor level, with corbelled eaves that continue below the gables. The dovecote has various openings that differ on each side, including a single three-centred arched window on each floor of the east side and a segmental arched doorway with a quatrefoil above on the south side. The internal floor has been removed. It is situated in landscaped pasture, well away from Woodchester House, and was noted to be in a dilapidated condition during a survey in December 1985.
