Description
This is a mid-18th century chest tomb located approximately 7 metres north of the vestry of the Church of St. Martin in North Nibley. It is made of limestone and features a rectangular shape with corner balusters and intricate anthropomorphic cartouches on the ends. The side panels are elaborately carved, with the south side being rectangular and the north panels having rounded ends. The tomb has a cyma moulded top adorned with egg and dart decoration along the upper edge, and spinal cresting down the centre of the top, which includes rich carvings of skulls on the north side and cherubs' heads on the south. The base is also cyma moulded. Unfortunately, the inscriptions on the tomb are illegible.
