Description
38-43 London Road is a late 18th-century building constructed of painted ashlar. It stands three storeys high and features a plain eaves cornice and parapet. The façade is characterized by a giant Tuscan pilaster order, with decorative anthemia at both the top and bottom of the pilasters. Each house has two rows of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, plain architraves, and sills. The entrance for each house consists of a round-arched door with a fanlight above. Number 41 has a canted bay window on the ground floor, which includes guttae on the architrave, a dentilled console, and a blocking course decorated with pediments and acroteria in shallow relief. Number 43 has a modernized ground floor. Numbers 38 to 43 form a group with numbers 10 to 14 on the northeast side.
