Description

The Reddings is a detached villa dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed with a rendered exterior, featuring a shallow hipped slate roof with deep eaves soffits decorated with moulded diamond shapes, and rendered ridge stacks. The main, nearly square range is two storeys high, with a painted brick rear wing extending to the left and returning behind the main range to form a U-shaped layout.

The south front has three windows, each with 12 panes and louvred wooden shutters. The ground floor windows are larger, with a series of narrow arches along the top level of panes. One window to the right has been replaced with 20th-century glazed doors. An elaborate carved wood verandah with a lead roof extends across the width of the ground floor.

The east-facing entrance front has a 12-pane sash window on the first floor, and a later 19th-century conservatory across the ground floor, set on a moulded stone plinth and featuring a series of 12-pane sashes with flat arch glazing bars inserted into the top panes. The front door consists of six moulded panels with raised and decoratively shaped centres, and has a decorative radial fanlight above. A radial glazed, long, round-headed sash window is located on the north side, likely illuminating a staircase.
