Description
Luffinghams is a former hall house, detached, likely dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century, with an inserted stack from the late 16th century to early 17th century. The building features a cruck-framed structure with four bays, large panel timber-framing, plaster infill, and curved downward tension braces, all resting on a sill beam above a brick plinth. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and is half-hipped, featuring a large ridge stack made of both ashlar and brick, along with a small brick lateral end stack on the right.
The house has a single range of single storey, with an additional inserted floor in the center that includes dormers at the rear. There is a small added half-hipped wing at the north end and a single-storey brick wing to the front left, likely from the 19th century, which contains a door. The ground floor has projecting framed casements at the front and rear, the latter possibly featuring ovolo moulded wood mullions. The remaining windows are from the 20th century, including a two-light casement on the left front that cuts into what was likely a former arched doorway.
While the interior is not accessible, it is reported to have newel stairs at each end, several old doors, and arched door-heads.
