Description
No. 37 The Street is a detached dwelling dating from the early 18th century. The building features squared and coursed limestone on the ground floor, with ashlar limestone above a cill band, and has a stone slate hipped roof. It is a compact structure with a central bay on the main front that is slightly brought forward, topped with a small moulded pediment that contains a blind lunette. The house has two storeys and an attic, with three windows that are sashes with glazing bars set in flush surrounds. The central door is a six-panel part-glazed design within a moulded architrave, which is stopped to impost blocks. Above the door is a semi-circular pediment that is carved with the Master Weaver's insignia, including a unicorn, dolphin, shuttles, and teazles. This pediment is slightly bowed and may have originated from another property, although the house belonged to a clothier from Uley. The left return wall features two hipped dormers. Inside, there are 18th-century shutters and a 19th-century staircase.
