Description

52a, The Street is an early 19th century dwelling and shop situated in a row. The street-facing facade is brick, while the returns are of rubble limestone. The roof is hipped, with stone slates to the front slope and concrete tiles to the returns.

The building is two storeys high with a three-window front. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each set beneath a stepped voussoir. The central window unit is set lower in the wall, creating a square overall appearance, possibly indicating a former hauling way. A modern, full-width shop front has been installed.

It is believed the building dates from 1826. It is considered an important element within the group of buildings, positioned slightly forward from adjacent properties.
