Description

The monument to John Kemble is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard approximately 12 metres north of the Taylor monument, near the Church of St. Leonard. It dates from 1829 and is constructed of sandstone with a limestone panel. The tomb has a square shape with inset sides, and the limestone panel on the south features a portrait of a woman mourner next to an urn. It includes a moulded frieze with a projecting moulded cornice and flat-topped coping, as well as a moulded plinth. The west side is inscribed with the name JOHN KEMBLE, who died in 1829.
