Description
The Gennings monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4 meters north of the vestry of the Church of St. James. It dates from the late 17th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features lyre ends with oval end panels, although the inset panel on the west side is missing. It has recessed moulded rectangular side inscription panels that are framed by scrolled carving. The top of the tomb is cyma moulded, while the base is not visible as of March 1985. The south side of the monument is inscribed with the name Samuel Gennings, although the date is illegible.
