Description

Hemmings Monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 13 metres south of the south transept of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates John Hemmings, who died in 1793. The monument is made of stone and features a circular base for an urn, two square steps, a weathered top with a moulded edge, and a fluted frieze. The sides have slightly raised rectangular panels with inset segmental tops. During an inspection in 1985, it appeared to be slightly sunk into the ground.
