GV II

House. Probably C15, altered C19, late C20. Brick-nogged timber framing, some panels rendered; weatherboarding to part gable; thatched roof. Two bays, one room deep, 1 1/2 storeys. Framing 2-panels high. On right curved brace corner main post to sill: 2-light casement; small, rectangular oriel window (late C20), under gabled hood, boarded front, iron stays to sides, slate roof. Two-light casement to left; boarded door under flat- pointed timber head on left. Above two 2-light casement windows in swept dormers, iron opening lights. Left return; curved crucks, hidden in upper part gable by weatherboarding. Centre brickwork, probably for fire: small window on right: similar window first-floor on right. Brick chimney on ridge above. Front door returned to present position mid to late C20: previously in position of oriel window; central cruck truss noted in 1970. Forms group with Great Wadley, the Old George and Ann Cam's School (q.v.). (The Rev. J. E. Gethyn Jones, smock down the Ages, 1966; old photographs at N.M.R.; plan in 1970, D3828 at C.R.O. )
