Description

Wood's Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 15th or early 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The structure features part timber framing with brick nogging and part Flemish-bond brickwork, along with a rendered extension on the left. The roof is thatched, with multi-roll Bridgewater tiles, while the lean-to has double-roll concrete tiles. The cottage is two or three bays wide, one room deep, and stands at 1½ storeys, with a late 20th-century extension adding one bay.

The front of the house faces the street and includes a continuous lean-to verandah supported by four timber posts, topped with a Bridgewater tile roof. At the rear, there is a single-light casement window on the right, a boarded door, and a two-light casement window with glass tiles above in the verandah roof. To the left, there is another single-light casement and a boarded door located just beyond the gable under the end of the verandah. A two-light iron casement window is found in the lean-to across the gable, and there appears to be a late 20th-century three-light casement window in a swept dormer.

The left return of the house features a half-hip, and there is a brick gable chimney. The right return shows an exposed cruck in the gable, with the ground floor now entirely brick between the blades, featuring a single-pane window and a two-light casement window on the first floor.
