Description
The Pauncefoot monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 7 meters west of the north-west corner of the tower of the Church of St. John the Evangelist. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge, lyre ends, and scrolls framing a central oval, with moulding on the returns. The sides have raised rectangular panels decorated with scroll and leaf designs at the ends. It stands on a chamfered plinth. The inscription is weathered but is likely dedicated to a member of the Pauncefoot family.
