Description

Oakfield Cottage is a house that likely dates from the early 18th century and was altered and extended in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with an irregular bond and has a tiled roof. The building is L-shaped and features three windows across the front, including a gabled wing, and stands two-and-a-half storeys tall.

On the right side, there is a projecting gable with one window on each floor, featuring a 2-light casement with Gothic tracery at the heads. The first-floor window has a flat brick lintel with a carved head serving as the keystone, while the attic window in the gable has a brick-on-edge lintel. A chimney is located at the right corner of the gable.

To the left, close to the angle, is the front door, which is a six-panel design with the bottom two panels flush and the top two glazed; it has no lintel. There are two additional windows beyond the front door on the ground and first floors, similar to the gable windows but with cambered brick arches. A vertical joint in the brickwork runs between the windows, aligning with the chimney on the ridge. The window openings to the right of this joint have been slightly narrowed.

Inside, the front door opens into a room that features a large brick fireplace, and the front windows on the ground floor have internal shutters.
