Description
Fish House is a draft net fish house built in the mid to late 19th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork made of large bricks and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is small and rectangular with simple gabled ends, situated on the embankment of the River Severn on its west side, right next to the A48 road. The side facing the road is plain, while the river side has a central blocked doorway with a cambered head and small openings at the ground floor and eaves to the right. The south end has a small square chimney stack and an opening with a cambered head, while the north end features a loft opening with a cambered head, although the cill has been removed. This modest structure holds historical significance due to its connection to the Severn salmon fishing industry and is one of the few remaining examples of such buildings. Recently, in 1986, some poles for drying nets have been installed on the adjacent embankment, although they are not listed.
