Description
Queen Anne’s Cottage is a detached house dated to the mid-17th century, with early 19th-century alterations. It is timber-framed with brick nogging or white-painted render, and has a thatched roof. A later extension is built of white-painted brickwork with a tiled roof. The original two-bay building is one-and-a-half storeys high, and has been extended by one bay to the left. The timber framing to the ground floor is arranged in panels two-high. On the right-hand side is a square bay with a three-light casement window, covered by a tiled lean-to roof. To the left of this is a further three-light casement window, set within an applied frame and also with a tiled lean-to roof. A boarded door is located adjacent to the window. Above, two dormers each contain two-light casement windows with leaded lights, and the thatch is swept over them. A brick gable chimney projects from the right return, with the top tapering inwards. The roof is half-hipped on the right. The left-hand extension features three-light casement windows on each floor, with leaded lights, housed within cambered brick arches and beneath dentil eaves. A large brick chimney is present on the left gable, and another is located behind the ridge, to the right of the extension. A single-storey garage extension is situated on the right-hand side and is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.
