Description
The Elliott monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 21 meters south of the west end of the tower of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates George Elliott, who died in 1828. The monument is made of stone and features a weathered top with a step and a moulded edge to the lid. The frieze on the north and south sides is horizontally fluted, while the east and west sides are horizontally ribbed, stopping short of plain corner blocks adorned with paterae. The corners have a wide, fluted chamfer, which runs out at both the top and bottom. The east and west sides include sunk panels with slightly raised rectangles that have scalloped corners, and the north and south sides feature rectangles formed with sunk lines. The base has a chamfered top.
