Description
The Cooper monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4 meters east of the south-east corner of the south transept of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the third quarter of the 18th century and is made of stone with a hexagonal shape. The monument features a hexagonal base that likely supported an urn, which is now missing as of 1985. It has a pyramidal top adorned with alternating urns and paterae in relief, along with roll moulding and a flat lid with a moulded edge. The moulded frieze displays sides with alternating tall ovals and corner paterae, as well as raised rectangles with scalloped corners. The base is also moulded. The monument shows some weathering, with the earliest readable date of death being 1777, and later inscriptions extending to 1907.
