Description
The Smith monument, located in the churchyard about 8 meters north of the east end of the north aisle of the Church of St. Mary, is a cross that dates from the 13th century and was restored in 1882 to commemorate Christian Smith. It is made of stone and features a circular medieval cross head with a raised cross and radiating stylized leaves on its 1882 base. The monument has a tall tapering shaft that is square at the bottom and transitions to an octagon near the top, which includes a bar stop. The shaft rises from a larger base that is octagonal at the top and broaches to a square below, set on two steps.
