Description
The monument to Arthur Pitcher is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 2 metres south of the nave wall of the Church of St Mary Magdalen. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a pitched top with reserved corners and a moulded edge, along with fielded panels that have embellishments on the east and west ends. The base of the tomb was found to be sunk at the time of the survey in November 1983. This monument commemorates Arthur Pitcher, who died in 1770, and is the middle monument in a group of three situated close to the nave wall.
