Description

Brandons Oak Cottage is a row of cottages, originally at least three but now two, located in Lower Oddington. The left end of the row features a late 17th century to early 18th century cottage, while the rest of the row was built in at least two phases, likely during the 18th century. There is a 20th century garage extension at the left end that is not of special interest. The cottages are constructed from coursed, squared, and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The overall plan is curved and rectangular.

Brandons, on the left, is two storeys with an attic, featuring three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods on the first floor, and a three-light casement on the ground floor also with stopped hoods. The central entrance is a 19th century six-panel front door with a keystone. The cottages to the right, built in the 18th century, have five windows with two and three-light metal casements, all fitted with horizontal glazing bars. There are two blocked doorways and a 20th century plank door within a 20th century surround. Visible wall plates across two walls indicate early roof construction. The 17th to early 18th century cottage on the left has gable-end stacks, while the other stacks are axial. The interior has not been inspected.
