Description
The Old Post Office is a Grade II listed building located in Lower Oddington. Originally constructed as two houses, it has since been converted into one. The right-hand house features a circular datestone with the initials R K and the date 1728, positioned between the upper floor windows. The left-hand house dates from the late 18th century, with 20th-century extensions added later. Both sections are built from coursed, squared, and dressed limestone, topped with a concrete tile roof and featuring ashlar and 20th-century brick stacks.
The building has a rectangular plan and is two stories high with a four-windowed facade. The windows include two and three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements, along with two 20th-century stone-mullioned windows flanking a flush 20th-century door that is set back within a flat-arched surround. Floating timber lintels are present over the windows on either side, and the upper floor windows have leaded panes while the ground floor windows feature horizontal glazing bars. To the left, there is a six-panel door with upper lights that are glazed, all within a plain flat-chamfered surround. The interior has not been inspected.
