Description
The Richard Marchant monument is a double bale tomb located in the churchyard approximately 7 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from 1673 and 1675 and is made of limestone. The tomb is rectangular in shape, featuring a base that consists of two chests with a common top and base. It has plain recessed inscription panels, a cyma moulded base, and a cornice moulded top. The bales are decorated with spiral gadrooning, with cherubs' heads on the west ends and skulls on the east. The monument is inscribed to Richard Marchant, who died in 1675.
