Description
The Church of St. Michael is a small Anglican church located in Poole Keynes, dating from around 1770, built on the site of an older church and restored in 1845. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone that is partly dressed, with a stone slate roof featuring coped verges. The church has a nave and a partly projecting west tower, along with a small chancel.
The tower consists of three stages, with a string course both below and above the belfry level, and is topped with an embattled parapet. The west side of the tower features a single small ogee light above a rounded arch that leads to the porch at the base of the tower. There are twin belfry openings on the north side and a single opening on the south side. The nave includes two 2-light cusped lancets with rounded arch hoodmoulds. The chancel has a single ogee light on each side, a 2-light Perpendicular east window, and an inscription panel on the south side dedicated to John Plat, dated 1645. Inside the porch, there is a wall monument from the late 17th century commemorating the Myles family. The interior is not accessible.
