Description
The School House is a mid-19th century building constructed from coursed and dressed rubble stone, topped with a stone slate roof featuring coped verges. It has a stone ridge stack with an offset and three tall polygonal flues that have moulded caps. This single-storey building with an attic includes a small rear projecting gable.
The east front displays two small gables, each with single-light iron casements set in recessed stone frames. On the ground floor, there are two-light stone mullions, each with a square hoodmould and a relieving arch beneath. To the left, there is a large gabled porch featuring a four-centred archway and a plank door. Additionally, there is a projecting canted bay on the left-hand return with a two-light stone mullion above. This picturesque building remains unaltered externally and is located adjacent to Barton Farmhouse.
