Description
The Roman Doric Temple, located approximately 50 meters south of the walled garden in Barrington Park, is a Grade II* listed structure from the mid-18th century. It is reputed to have been designed by William Kent as part of the landscaping efforts by the Earl and Countess Talbot. The temple is constructed of ashlar stone and features a circular plan, likely open on one side, supported by distyle Doric columns. It is adorned with a Doric entablature. The temple is depicted in a print from S. Rudder's "A New History of Gloucestershire," published in 1779. The site was not accessible during the resurvey in May 1986.
