Description

Nos. 1-4 Brook Lane form a mid-19th century terrace built in the style of the 17th century, stepped downwards towards the stream. The buildings are constructed of cut, squared, and dressed rubble, with slate roofs. Each pair has four bays, with centralised gables containing two-light attic windows and outer ranges of windows. The windows have mullion-type glazing in rebate surrounds, with two or three lights per window. Plain doors are aligned with the dormers. The buildings are depicted on a map of 1819, and it is possible that the current structures incorporate or reflect the style of earlier cottages from that date.
