Description
This building is a stable, open-fronted store, and former smithy located west of Cutsdean Farmhouse, dating from the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with a concrete tile roof and an ashlar chimney. The structure has an L-shaped plan that includes a stable with a store to the right, and an open-fronted store flanking the smithy that runs forward and is attached to the right. All sections are single storey.
The stable facade features a central plank door flanked by windows with ventilation slats. To the right, there is a lower-level store with a plank door. The open-fronted store has three open bays on the far left, followed by the smithy and store, and then eight additional open bays. Two limestone monoliths on padstones divide the far right-hand bays, with some original timber post supports on padstones behind. Other bay divisions are made with timber posts on limestone padstones. The stable and open-fronted store have flat gable end coping with roll-cross saddles, and there is an axial stack above the former smithy.
Inside the smithy, the bellows and furnace are still in place.
